Porvoo Jazz Festival offers more music for all ages

Porvoo Jazz Festival, starting at the end of September, will offer even more content for children and young people this year.

There will be more concerts without age restrictions, and young people will also be taking the stage. In addition, the festival will feature Megasakki, the winner of the latest Emma award for children's music!

The festival's opening concert on Friday, September 29th at 18:00 PM will be held in collaboration with the Porvoo Music School. In addition to music school students, former students of the Linnajoki School's music program will also perform on stage. This all ages, free concert will showcase local young talents specializing in jazz music. The future stars of the jazz world will perform songs ranging from fusion jazz to traditional jazz standards. The concert will take place in the pop-up space "123 Kellari" (formerly Soho), which is back in use after a two-year hiatus. The space already has a new tenant lined up, so those with a nostalgia for it should make sure to visit.

The festival's crown jewel is the children's concert on Sunday at 123 Kellari, featuring the children's music band Megasakki. The band won the Emma award for children's music in 2022 with their lively debut album Siili biitboksaa. The colorful and playful quartet's entertaining music draws joy from rhythm and fun lyrics for their audience.

In addition to the above-mentioned concerts, all concerts at the Taidehalli and Taidetehdas and the Jazzkierros Vol. 2 are open to all ages, and there are discounted tickets available for children.
