Hietsu is Happening! continues to showcase unique and emerging international talents

Hietsu is Happening, organized by Antti Lötjönen, Mikko Innanen, and Petri Kumela since 2016, brings ambitious and high-quality music to the audience in an approachable and relaxed manner.

Hietsu is Happening! continues to introduce unique, emerging international talents by bringing Danish saxophonist and composer Signe Emmeluth's Amoeba ensemble to the stage. The other members of the quartet, guitarist Karl Bjorå, drummer Konrad Agnas, and pianist Christian Balvig, are all shining stars in the Nordic jazz scene. The group's music seamlessly transitions from intense free jazz to delicate chamber music expressions.

Other performers for the evening are from nearby. The talented violinist Eriikka Maalismaa, known from the classical Hietsu, will premiere works for violin and electronics by Sami Klemola and Timothy Page. Together with guitarist Petri Kumela, they will delve into the fascinating world of curtain pullers in Ida Lundén's piece Vingring.

Performers:
Signe Emmeluth, saxophone
Karl Bjorå, guitar
Konrad Agnas, drums
Christian Balvig, piano

Eriikka Maalismaa, violin
