Due to the corona situation, UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra will replace its concert activities with streamed concerts. Two online concerts are scheduled for December.
Sointi Jazz Orchestra's last concert of the year will be broadcast from the Kapsäkki Music Theater as a live stream on the orchestra's Facebook page and Keikalla.fi website. Via Keikalla.fi, you can support the orchestra's musicians with an optional 5-30 euro support ticket and watch the concert recording for another 7 days after the performance.
Music Finland LIVE is a subsidy scheme for the independent and freelance music sector, and all music genres are eligible. It flows on from two preceding pilot programs: the Jazz Finland LIVE subsidy was established in 2016, and subsequently relaunched as Jazz & Etno Finland LIVE subsidy. Now the subsidy is open for applications towards professional and regular club or concert activities in 2021, and all music genres are eligible.
Due to the cancellation of the We Jazz 2020 festival, the Nordic Jazz Comets showcase moves to the We Jazz YouTube channel on Wednesday, December 2. Kadi Vija Key Project's show will be streamed with no audience at G Livelab Helsinki, and the four other bands perform in their hometowns around the Nordic states.
The tour of the visiting trio starts today November 23rd from Turku and ends in Helsinki Hietsu is Happening! concert, where saxophonist Mikko Innanen will be heard as a special guest. The concert is organized in accordance with the latest regional regulations of the Regional State Administrative Agency of Southern Finland and the number of participants is limited to 20 listeners.
Fans of rich orchestral music will be pampered on Thursday with a joint concert by Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Turku Jazz Orchestra, while the swinging music of the legendary Duke Ellington comes to life at the sold-out Turku Concert Hall. The concert can also be watched as a streaming broadcast on the Keikalla.fi platform.
With her latest album, jazz pianist Riitta Paakki serves effortless swing based on the mix of jazz traditions and the deep tones of the north. The album bearing the name Piste was released on November 13th, 2020 by the Turku-based record company Flame Jazz Records.

SaloJazz came to existence on a 2012 June evening at a bus stop in front of a local supermarket, as a result of a chance meeting with Ilkka Rantamäki, the Regional Artist for jazz music at that time. We both had identified a hole in the Salo event scene, waiting to be filled with an annual music event for adult audiences. We decided to go ahead and organise one. Guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg and his quartet had a Finnish tour organised for late September that year, and that determined the dates for the new festival. We added three local ensembles, and the program for the inaugural event was complete. Our main incentive was to kick-start a high-end music event which would grow steadily and still be around in ten years’ time.
Due to new gathering restrictions and city policies, April Jazz Club has to unfortunately cancel the April Jazz Club + WeeGee concerts for a period of three weeks, starting next week. For the cancelled concerts (Kari Ikonen Solo feat. Mikko Hassinen 27.11., Elifantree 4.12. and Riitta Paakki Quartet 11.12.), the aim is to find replacement dates for 2021.
