Selma Juudit Alessandra's tour postponed until fall

Jazz Finland's spring season was supposed to start with Selma Juudit Alessandra's tour on February 9–18, but due to the ongoing pandemic, the tour will be postponed until two periods in November–December. The indie-jazz foursome, led by singer-songwriter Selma Savolainen, plays live in seven cities on Nov 9–11 and Nov 30–Dec 3.

Vocalist-composer Selma Savolainen’s quartet Selma Juudit Alessandra's Jazz Finland tour is postponed until Nov–Dec 2021. The quartet was founded in 2015 to animate Savolainen’s compositions and lyrics. The Helsinki-based band will charm seven cities with their irresistable mix of 70’s psychedelia, ethereal sounds and artsy jazz pop.

Savolainen is an aspiring vocalist and composer hailing from Helsinki, Finland. Even though her musical roots lay in jazz, diverse influences from other genres can be heard in her singing and writing. Savolainen is an alumni of the Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program and the Banff International Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music. She has studied at the Sibelius Academy and the Conservatory of Paris.

Selma Juudit Alessandra released their debut album Rubicon Songs in December 2019. It gained minor attention also internationally, and served as a powerful start for the young group’s future career.
