Turku's jazz year starts with a series of online concerts in exceptional circumstances. The first Flame Jazz night of the year will be celebrated on Facebook Live on Friday 22 January by award-winning pianist-composer Iro Haarla.
In the music of the Iro Haarla Quartet, there is a dialogue of light and darkness, calm and storm, joy and sorrow. Friday's concert will feature Iro Haarla's compositions, but each member of the quartet's distinctive playing style and strong interpretation will be equally present, with wind instrumentalist Juhani Aaltonen, bassist Ulf Krokfors and drummer Markku Ounaskari sharing the stage with Haarla. The recognizable ensemble sound involves a long collaboration of musicians.
Due to the restrictions to gatherings in Turku, no live audience will be admitted to the concerts at the beginning of the year.

The gig can be viewed on Facebook on January 29th. until then, viewers don’t need to have their own Facebook account.
