Pirkanmaa Saxophone Festival begins with an exhibition ahead of a voluminous concert program

Metso Library takes a nice headstart for the Pirkanmaa Saxophone Festival, which is being held for the second time. A small exhibition of saxophone-themed material will be on display at the library's music department from March 25 to April 3. The exhibition features sheet music, records, books and other saxophone-related notes. The material has been compiled from the library's extensive collections, and the exhibition is open during Metso Library's opening hours.



Applications to Erik Lindström Fund’s 2022 grant open until 15 April

The purpose of the Erik Lindström Fund is to support the studies of young Finnish jazz musicians primarily in the United States. The capital of the Lindström Fund, which operates in connection with Music Archive Finland, has been donated by the Finnish Jazz Legend No. 1, composer and musician Erik Lindström (1922–2015).


Raoul Björkenheim's 40th anniversary concert at Sello Hall on 24 March

This spring, Raoul Björkenheim celebrates his 40-year career as an artist on tour with his band eCsTaSy. The tour begins with a 40th anniversary concert at Espoo's Sello Hall on Thursday, 24 March. In addition to eCsTaSy, the concert will feature a duo of Juhani Aaltonen and Björkenheim. After this festive kick-off in Espoo, the guitarist's quartet tour between 28 March–10 April in Finland and visit seven locations: Tampere, Savonlinna, Joensuu, Kuopio, Turku, Seinäjoki and Kuusankoski.
