Jimi Tenor and UMO to perform at Torino Jazz Festival – UMO's lively festival summer program

In the summer, UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra will give concerts at several festivals both in Finland and abroad.

UMO has several festival visits ahead, first to the Torino Jazz Festival in Italy, as well as domestic venues at Lahti Organ Festival, Flow Festival and the renewed Huvila tent during Helsinki Festival. The series of summer gigs also includes a first visit to Allas Sea Pool's Allas Live concert series. The soloists at the concerts will be Jimi Tenor (Turin and Flow), Ringa Manner (Huvila), Erja Lyytinen (Allas Sea Pool) and Susanne Kujala (Organ Festival).

Jimi Tenor & UMO at Torino Jazz Festival Sunday 19 June

Jimi Tenor and the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra will head to the Torino Jazz Festival in Italy in 19 June! Terra Exotica, composed by Jimi Tenor for UMO, is an energetic, upbeat and exotic album. It draws its inspiration from the forests and seas of Eastern Helsinki, Japanese film music, and distinctive jazz visionaries like Sun Ran and Salah Ragab. The concert is conducted by Ed Partyka.

Lahti Organ Festival: UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra & Susanne Kujala Thursday 11 August

UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra gets a rare nuance from a slightly larger wind instrument, when the big band and organist Susanne Kujala join forces. The concert, which elegantly combines different musical worlds from the classical and jazz sides, will feature the premiere of Markus Fagerudd, the symphonic Duke Ellington and an organ concert by the Swedish Örjan Fahlström. The concert is conducted by Jukka Linkola.

Allas Live: UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra Goes Blues With Erja Lyytinen Thursday 18 August

The Queen of Slide Guitar, singer-songwriter Erja Lyytinen and UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra will join forces at the Allas Sea Pool in August! The concert will feature material from Lyytinen’s entire career, including her latest songs with fresh big band arrangements made by e.g. Erno Tiittanen and Antti Rissanen, who also conducts the concert.
