SaloJazz finds many ways to collaborate
SaloJazz came to existence on a 2012 June evening at a bus stop in front of a local supermarket, as a result of a chance meeting with Ilkka Rantamäki, the Regional Artist for jazz music at that time. We both had identified a hole in the Salo event scene, waiting to be filled with an annual music event for adult audiences. We decided to go ahead and organise one. Guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg and his quartet had a Finnish tour organised for late September that year, and that determined the dates for the new festival. We added three local ensembles, and the program for the inaugural event was complete. Our main incentive was to kick-start a high-end music event which would grow steadily and still be around in ten years’ time.
April Jazz Club + WeeGee concerts are cancelled for the next three weeks
Due to new gathering restrictions and city policies, April Jazz Club has to unfortunately cancel the April Jazz Club + WeeGee concerts for a period of three weeks, starting next week. For the cancelled concerts (Kari Ikonen Solo feat. Mikko Hassinen 27.11., Elifantree 4.12. and Riitta Paakki Quartet 11.12.), the aim is to find replacement dates for 2021.

This year Emma Gala has a new online nominee registration and voting system, through which all Emma nominees must be registered.
Hot Heros feat. Iro Haarla release the album Vodjanoi on November 18th
In January 2020 Hot Heros, formed by Sami Sippola, Ville Rauhala and Janne Tuomi, and pianist/composer Iro Haarla recorded an album of music influenced by nature and the spirit of Northern Finland. The recording sessions were held at Haarla's old country mansion at Tervakoski, a beautiful house full of music, surrounded by big trees and a wild garden.
Finnish Jazz Legend Prizes to Iro Haarla and Wiola Talvikki
The board of Music Archive Finland has awarded the 35th Finnish Jazz Legend Prize to keyboardist and composer Iro Haarla and and 36th to singer Wiola Talvikki.
Nordic jazz bands and promotors play together in the Key of Green
Jazz Finland coordinates a pilot project, where 14 Nordic jazz clubs and festivals, 5 jazz ensembles and 5 jazz organizations pull together to promote greener jazz touring and events. The bands are featured in a free stream of live concerts from five different cities on December 2. The Nordic Jazz Comets showcase is part of the programme of We Jazz 2020 festival, and the concert of the Finnish act Kadi Vija Key Project, is streamed live from G Livelab in Helsinki.

Dalindèo will present their new album Follow the Dark Money on a record release tour in November-December. The statement-making album by the band led by Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen will come to life on live stages in Helsinki, Savonlinna, Jyväskylä and Turku.

Piano trio Dark Horse will celebrate their fresh album with We Jazz by performing in Helsinki on December 3rd. We Jazz Records releases the Swedish band's Listen album both on vinyl and digitally.
