The second part of John Hollenbeck’s Jazz Finland Residency takes place 2–21 August, 2022
Jazz Finland, Sibelius Academy Jazz Music Department at Uniarts Helsinki, UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra and the Finnish Musicians’ Union launched a new international jazz residency program in August 2021. Composer, drummer and percussionist John Hollenbeck (b. 1968) visited Helsinki as the first-ever Artist-in-Residence in this program in August 2021. Due to the pandemic, Hollenbeck’s visit was divided into two short periods, and the latter part finally takes place a year later, in August 2022.
Sole Azul tours by electric car in Lapland in August – Jazz Finland’s pilot tours measure climate impact
Jazz Finland develops the sustainability of their touring concepts. During fall 2022, Jazz Finland studies the emissions of seven differently produced tours, and collects data about their impacts and user experiences. The extensive touring season is opened by the jazz-tango threesome Sole Azul in August 15–21 in Lapland, where they set up a residence in the village of Kaukonen, and commute to concerts by an electric car.
Turku Sea Jazz begins this Wednesday
Turku Sea Jazz kickstarts at the Cathedral Park Terrace on Wednesday, July 27 and Thursday is spent on Seili island. Weekend’s concerts on July 29–30 are held in the front of the Forum Marinum Maritime Center by Aura River. The audience gets to enjoy hottest Finnish and international jazz rhythms, a marine atmosphere, and delicious food experiences.

Vapaat äänet tours on summer 2022
This summer, Vapaat äänet organizes the Finnish debuts of two interesting trios: Innanen - Pasborg - Piromalli (Finland, Denmark, France) and Karja - Renard - Wandinger (Estonia, France, Germany) will both tour at the end of July. The agency also organizes pianist Andy Emler's concert series at the end of August.
Harjujazz takes over Kangasala 29th–30th July, 2022
Kangasala's second consecutive Harjujazz has an extremely versatile programme of the best of Finnish jazz. The festival's main guest is saxophonist-composer Timo Lassy.
Odysseus 2022 programme released in full
Odysseus festival, organized by the We Jazz collective, offers three full days of inspiring musical experiences in the maritime atmosphere of Lonna island from the 22nd to the 24th July. The day-by-day schedule of the event is now complete with the last artist engagements.
