The showcase event is a part of the ongoing two-year project, titled Nordic Jazz Comets Dagsverke. The Dagsverke edition thematically continues the previous project, NJC In The Key Of Green, that the Finnish Jazz Federation led in 2020–2021. In that project the participants explored environmentally sustainable practices in tour and concert productions in the Nordic region.
The Dagsverke focuses more on using music as a tool to improve social sustainability. The stakeholders – bands, promoters and national organizations – work together at a “dagsverke” day at selected NGOs or projects and meet at a showcase concert event the following day.
The 2022 event took place in Copenhagen, Denmark on February 9–10, and Finland was represented at Club Montmartre by Adele Sauros Quartet. Alongside performing at the showcase, the quartet visited a community project called Improv For Asylum Kids, and the anti-overdose program Antidote. Sweden hosts next year’s workshops in Stockholm, and for the showcase the bands travel to Gävle, where the General Assembly for Svensk Jazz organization is held at the same time.
