Viapori Jazz celebrates its 20th anniversary 23–28 August

After the longest period of exceptional circumstances it is finally time to gather to celebrate the 20th anniversary festivities of this exclusive jazz happening. Join the festival and enjoy August evenings in Suomenlinna and be catered to the musical offerings of Viapori Jazz!


Porvoo Jazz Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary in September

This year, Porvoo Jazz Festival is celebrating its tenth anniversary. In honor of the anniversary we will see a wider set of jazz concerts during the festival on September 23–25. The concert venues are Porvoo Jazz’s own cultural space Vanha 123, Porvoon Taidetehdas, RUNO Hotel Porvoo, and as a new addition, the rough, beautiful and atmospheric old locomotive stables of Porvoo's Old Railway Station.




Survey for disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users on applying for grants – DL 5 September, 2022

The project Making space for artistry - equity for disabled artists and artists who are Sign Language users will organize a training session for the members of Association for Finnish Foundations in September. The members are foundations operating in Finland that fund art creation. In the training, the project can present them with facts about what kind of obstacles there are in applying for and receiving grants. If you want to contribute, the project would be grateful if you would answer the survey via the link below.





The second part of John Hollenbeck’s Jazz Finland Residency takes place 2–21 August, 2022

Jazz Finland, Sibelius Academy Jazz Music Department at Uniarts Helsinki, UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra and the Finnish Musicians’ Union launched a new international jazz residency program in August 2021. Composer, drummer and percussionist John Hollenbeck (b. 1968) visited Helsinki as the first-ever Artist-in-Residence in this program in August 2021. Due to the pandemic, Hollenbeck’s visit was divided into two short periods, and the latter part finally takes place a year later, in August 2022.


Sole Azul tours by electric car in Lapland in August – Jazz Finland’s pilot tours measure climate impact

Jazz Finland develops the sustainability of their touring concepts. During fall 2022, Jazz Finland studies the emissions of seven differently produced tours, and collects data about their impacts and user experiences. The extensive touring season is opened by the jazz-tango threesome Sole Azul in August 15–21 in Lapland, where they set up a residence in the village of Kaukonen, and commute to concerts by an electric car.
