Drummer Okko Saastamoinen’s band tours widely in Finland in February and March. The first single “Piik” was released on 25 January.
The quartet formed by guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Jarmo Saari and three top-notch drummers bring light to the darkness of the modern world. Soldiers of Light comes out on the 1st of March and is supported with album release concerts in Helsinki, Porvoo and Turku.
The opening concert of the new year honours big band music and golden oldies of jazz. Ville Vannemaa conducts the concert and the orchestra’s own stars perform solos of their own favourite pieces.
The ensemble consists of Pauli Lyytinen (tenor saxophone), Harri Kuusijärvi (accordion) and Eero Tikkanen (double bass). Sole Azul performs arrangements of existing tangos but also original music influenced by tango, with stylistic elements of jazz.

Saxophonist and composer Joakim Berghäll leads his all-star trio Triality to arctic soundscapes on his masterful concept album.
The band will play their final concerts during 2019.
The first Iisalmi Jazz Festival is held this week from Friday to Sunday.
The spring season of UMO has started. The first half of the year consists of the Art testers (taidetestaajat) and Musatehdas projects with schools, the Prince tribute tour and the traditional Easter church tour among other top-notch concerts.
