UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra and pianist-harpist Iro Haarla collaboration continues at Easter time with Silent Music church tour. Tour visits Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Askola and Porvoo.
Iro Haarla plays both piano and harp during the concert series. Tour is a very rare occasion, since Haarla performs rarely in Finland, and harp is quite uncommon instrument in big band music. UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra is joined also Haarla´s spouse and bassist Ulf Krokfors. The concert series are conducted by Mikko Hassinen.
Silent Music -concert consists of Haarla´s compositions. Themes vary from Easter events to wonders of nature. Haarla herself describes the concert´s aim to bring audience delight and place to quiet down in a stream of deep sounds and atmosphere of light.
