Papanosh tours Finland and the Baltics in April

Here is the new adventure of the abundant French quintet: Papanosh portrays the imaginary world of author Jim Harrison. They hit eight concerts in Finland from April 12th to 19th and eight more concerts follow in the Baltics from April 21st to 30th.

In April, top jazz can be experienced in a maritime milieu, when the fascinating Mika Kallio Gong Odyssey performs at Korpoström Archipelago Center and Utö Island Church.



Lahti Jazz kicks off a new jazz club April 13 - Riitta Paakki Quartet performing

Lahti Jazz ry, founded at the end of the year, has sprung to action in 2023. The association was accepted as a member to the Finnish Jazz Federation in February, and now starts hosting regular club activities in Lahti. The monthly clubs are organized at the Teerenpeli restaurant every second Thursday of the month. The clubs are organized in the spring season in April-June and after the summer break in September-December.





14 new artists announced for Pori Jazz's main concerts

The new performers for Kirjurinluoto's main concerts include e.g. jazz singer Kurt Elling, blues guitarist Eric Gales and recent Grammy winner Snarky Puppy and three rising jazz saxophonists Chelsea Carmichael, Melissa Aldana and James Brandon Lewis.


Survey: Female and male music authors have a completely different idea of equality in the industry

According to a recent Finnish survey, 70% of female lyricists and composers feel that the music industry is unequal, whereas the corresponding figure for men is only 32%. The biggest reasons given for this were the prevailing attitudes in the music industry and the lack of networks and role models for women. Desired measures to improve matters were also highlighted in the survey, including providing better support and encouragement through music teaching, increasing opportunities for having music as a hobby and increased showcasing of role models.
