Women’s choir KYN performs Teosto-winning Mikko Hassinen’s compositions on 30 October at Koko Jazz Club. In concert KYN Goes Hassinen the choir will be joined by the top artists Manuel Dunkel (saxhophone), Ville Herrala (double bass) and Hassinen himself on the drums. The night will be kicked off with a discussion where Kaija Viitasalo, the conductor for KYN, and maestro Hassinen shed light on the background of the project.

The Finnish Jazz Federation will organise two traditional tours and two co-produced tours in autumn 2016. Application for the Jazz-Espa Festival 2016, organised in July, can be completed with the same application form. Application closes on 15 November 2015. The Finnish Jazz Federation will complete the selection process before Christmas.
Led by acclaimed guitarist Raoul Björkenheim (Sound & Fury, Krakatau, UMO), Raoul Björknheim Ecstacy issues their sophomore album on 16 October. The recording, "Out of the Blue", comes out on American label Cuneiform and it can be described as a follow-up to the self-titled debut. In other words, we are in for a cocktail of free improvisation and rocking energy.

To be organised at Music Centre in Helsinki 15- 17 October, this year’s DIG. festival features American drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts, Brazilian guitarist and vocalist Chico Pinheiro and sax players Fredrik Lndborg, Walter Smith III and Jerry Bergonzi. Naturally also some of their best Finnish colleagues from the jazz department of the Sibelius Academy will take the stage at the three-day event.
