Groundbreaking work in Nepal
The Finnish model for folk music education has proved appealing around the globe, including Nepal. The country is currently planning its music-teaching curriculum and Finnish experts have been invited to assist in creating the framework for Nepalese music teacher-training. Kantele artist Vilma Timonen is among those collaborating with local players on the vast project of laying the foundations for Nepal’s future music education and music teacher-training. Timonen’s work in Nepal is a part of the research project Global Visions, which looks at the aspect of globalisation in music teacher-training. The project is funded by The Finnish Academy.
