Legendary Drummer Steve Gadd to Finland in January

entry-image

Steve Gadd, one of the most influential drummers of all time, is to perform in Finland twice towards the end of January with his trio Blicher/Hemmer/Gadd. The group will play live at Koko Jazz Club on Friday 29 January and star the Flame Jazz Cruise, casting off on Saturday 30 January.

Famous for his work with such names as Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton and Chick Corea, Gadd’s career as an acclaimed drummer began in the 70s. He is known as one of the great innovators of drumming.

The two thirds of the trio are composed of Danes saxophonist Michael Blicher and Hammond organist Dan Hemmer. Stylistically, the group falls into the genre of rootsy soul jazz. In 2014, they went on a sixteen-concert European tour, with all of the shows selling out. The tour was recorded and released as a live album in the same year.

The legendary drummer will be brought to Finland in collaboration by the Helsinki-based Koko Jazz Club and the Turku-based Flame Jazz. In Helsinki, Gadd will perform in an intimate club environment, while in Turku he will headline the menu of the first Flame Jazz Cruise of 2016.
