Jazz Finland LIVE to support Finnish concert production

entry-image

Jazz Finland LIVE is a new support form for promoting professional jazz concert organizers around the country. The goal is to provide support for sustainable jazz concert series. The Finnish Music Foundation MES granted 139 000 euros for the pilot project in 2016.

The Finnish Jazz Federation and The Finnish Musicians' Union coordinate the Jazz Finland LIVE project. The goal is to establish a new support system for the freelance-based music field, that would foster professional concert production, live music's regional availability, increasing work opportunities for artists and other music professionals.

The Ministry of Education and Culture has allocated funding for Jazz Finland LIVE project's pilot year. The funding covers half of the support budget that clubs and other concert producers receive, and the other half comes from the cities' culture or project funding.

The Finnish Music Foundation MES received ten applications for the pilot year's supported concert series. The pilot season features eight concert organizers, who were granted 139 000 euros in total:

Espoo Big Band ry, Espoo
Flame Jazz ry, Turku
Koko Jazzin kannatusyhdistys, Helsinki
Kotka Jazz ry, Kotka
Oulun musiikkijuhlasäätiö rs, Oulu
Ravintola Ylhäinen Oy, Iisalmi
SaloJazz ry, Salo
TTT-Teatteripalvelut Oy, Tampere
