Apply for Finnish Jazz Federation Tours In Spring 2017!

The Finnish Jazz Federation will organise two traditional tours and two co-produced tours in the spring of 2016. Apply by an electronic form (link below) on May 3rd the latest. The Finnish Jazz Federation will complete the selection process in June.

 

 


Turku Jazz Festival announces first acts of the upcoming festival

Taking place in the courtyard of brewery restaurant Koulu on 18-21 August, Turku Jazz Festival has confirmed the first acts of this year’s festival: Dalindèo, Finnish Jazz Federation Jubilee Orchestra and the Turku Jazz Artist of the Year are to take to the stage on Friday 19 August. The programme will be released in its entirety at the turn of April.



Around 50 Yrjös Exhibition Soundtrack

Around 50 Yrjös is a touring museum art exhibition on display now for the last time at Kirjasto 10's in Helsinki. The exhibit consists ofsome of the art pieces that were granted as Jazz Federation's Yrjö prizes during 1967 - 2015. 




O. Saastamoisen Kvartetti To Win YNJC 2016

O. Saastamoisen Kvartetti was chosen to represent Finland at the Young Nordic Jazz Comets showcase at the Umeå Jazz Festival in October. The annual band contest took place at Koko Jazz Club on Saturday the 16th of April. 



Jazz Federation's Jubilee Orchestra To Premiere At April Jazz On April 22

Finnish Jazz Federation celebrates its 50-year anniversary by a special jazz prize Yrjö-themed concert and art exhibition at April Jazz Festival in Espoo next week. On the concert day, Friday the 22nd, opens not only the Around 50 Yrjös exhibition at Espoo Cultural Center, but also a remarkable 50-year history study online here in Jazz Finland.


M. A. Numminen publishes a notable book about jazz

The acclaimed Finnish artist publishes a book, entitled Jazzin meining, this April on Finnish Aviador Publishing. The book comprises historically significant material, some of which previously unpublished. Book launch parties will be organised in Helsinki, Turku and Tampere.
