Kohti joulua – Erin & UMOTemppeliaukion kirkko, helsinki11.12. At 21:00

The by now traditional Christmas concert tour of UMO will this year be headlining leading Finnish artist Erin. The Christmas tour will span two weeks in December, with concerts at Temppeliaukio Church in Helsinki and the Cathedral of Espoo, and further afield in Porvoo, Hämeenlinna and Kotka.

The repertoire will feature some of the traditional and most beloved Christmas songs and also a few of Erin’s own Christmas favourites will be heard. The arrangements are written with church acoustics and atmosphere in mind. Conductor Kari Heinilä.

Erin (b. 1977) became known as a member of the band Nylon Beat in the 1990’s. She released her very successful solo albums in 2011 and 2013 and is today one of the most popular Finnish singer-songwriters. Erin took part in tv-series Vain Elämää, Finnish version of The Best Singers, which brought her to the footlights of masses.

Kari Ikonen Trio

Dawn Of Midi (www)

Here we find two completely different approaches to the concept of a piano trio. The
KARI IKONEN TRIO ranks among the top groups in Finnish jazz right now and this
is the release concert for their new album. We expect it to be an excellent showcase
of compositional modernism in jazz. Ikonen was awarded as the jazz musician of the
year in Finland in 2013. DAWN OF MIDI from Brooklyn show us their unique
perspective on what contemporary minimalistic music can sound like. Their latest
album “Dysnomia” is a result of 70 years of evolution in minimal music and can best
be described as “post jazz” or “minimal jazz”. Their live show is a blissful one-hour hypnosis which never fails to stun.
