Highlights of the UMO Helsinki’s autumn season

UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra’s autums season has started! This season shows off a versatile and high-class jazz programme featuring free offerings, several charismatic vocalists and noted soloist and the debut concert of the new chief conductor among others.




Viapori Jazz starts today

Viapori Jazz is held from 20 to 24 August on the picturesque Suomenlinna sea fortress. The festival starts with a sold out Jazz Meet Tango concert at Tenalji von Fersen. 


Oulu Music Festival autumn’s Jazz & Etno concerts

Oulu Music Festivals autumn season’s Jazz & Etno concert series feature 11 concerts. As the interlude for the series, Kuusisto & Perko Co. performs on 15 August on the Night of the Arts at the Jumpru Patio. They play well-known Finnish tunes and jazz standards.


Jazz city of Helsinki was envisioned as vital, international and diverse

Jazz-Espa was opened with a panel discussion to envision the future of Helsinki as a jazz city. The panel included a group of professionals of jazz musicians, event producers, orchestras and city politics. Since City of Helsinki is now working on their own vision of art and culture for 2020 to 2030, the jazz scene is challenged to create a vision of their own. In your boldest visions, what would jazz city of Helsinki look like in 2030?




Elojazz continues in Oulu

The 31th Elojazz festival started with the opening concert at Tiura Church on 1 August. Main concerts are held at Prunnitori on Friday and Saturday. Festival programme also features Jazz park event, free concerts at Jumpru patio and a Jazz brunch.
