Led by the eponymous pianist, Aki Rissanen Trio play one show in Britain and five around Finland this September. The trio released the acclaimed disc, Amorandom, earlier this year.
The emerging jazz city Turku's jazz ambassadors, Flame Jazz Messengers, are a new group, assembled inspired by the Flame Jazz -- a concert series and brand that aims to perk up the jazz life of the old capital. The group releases their debut album, Port Arthur, on 9 September, giving an album launch show on 7 September at the brand new G Livelab, in Helsinki.
The travelling club series Tuokio sees a special, one-off outfit Liikemiehet give six concerts around Finland. Tuokio is a concept that combines elements of concert tour and public discussion and is produced by the Sivis Study Centre.
Like in previous years, the club will deliver plenty of jazz this season.
The We Jazz Rising Star -winning Bowman Trio is a specimen of the vitality and originality of today's Finnish jazz. Their first album, recorded at a We Jazz Festival concert at Kahvila Sävy in December 2015, will also be the very first release in the catalogue of We Jazz. The album will be available on two different vinyl editions and in digital format. The album launch party takes place on Lonna on 4 September.
The Panurama club series, hosted by vibeist Panu Savolainen, returns to Helsinki's Lavaklubi on 2 September.

The 47th Turku Jazz Festival took place a week ago -- now for the first time as a part of the project Jazz City Turku. Artistic and financial aspects met rather than clashed: a top-class Finnish jazz drew more audience than ever before.
The new, category-evading quartet issues their debut, Elixir, on vinyl and wood disc on 2 September. The release is followed by an extensive Finnish tour.
