One of the cornerstones in Finnish jazz, saxman Koivistoinen, has crossed paths with many ensembles along his long career. This latest quartet plays mostly Koivistoinen’s compositions, new and older. The music is lyrical and energetic, and “Koippa”’s long connection with Africa shows in the group’s rhythmic expression.
