Saxophonist Adele Sauros is one of the most active jazz musicians and composers in Finland and Europe. The Adele Sauros Quartet, blending Nordic and American jazz styles, was founded in 2012 and has released the albums I Paint You (Fresh Sound Records 2021), My Spontaneous Mind (2016), and It's Who I Am (2014). The quartet has performed at major jazz festivals in Finland and the Nordic countries. Recently, the group represented Finland at the Nordic Jazz Comets event at Montmartre Jazz Club in Copenhagen in 2022 and toured Sweden as part of an event organized by the Finnish Jazz Federation and Swedish jazz organizations.
Sauros's fourth album Your Special Loss will be released in March 2024 by the Spanish label Fresh Sounds Records. The album consists of Sauros's compositions, exploring themes of recovery and finding hope. The melodic and serious compositions draw influences from the traditions of Nordic and American jazz. Sauros believes in the transformative power of music, creating art on her own terms, as reflected in the music of the Adele Sauros Quartet.
The regular members of the quartet are Adele Sauros (tenor saxophone), Toomas Keski-Säntti (piano), Vesa Ojaniemi (double bass), and Tuomas Timonen (drums). The members are virtuoso jazz musicians with open minds and the courage to deviate from familiar patterns, embracing spontaneous improvisation.
