Sointi Jazz Orchestra is an 18-member ensemble founded by young professionals in the fall of 2013, with artistic direction led by its founder, Rasmus Soini. SJO is known for its distinctive sound that revitalizes the big band tradition, achieved through unconventional instrumentation and fresh arrangements utilizing alternative instruments. The ensemble's productions seamlessly blend jazz with influences from classical music, folk music, and other genres.

Each year, Sointi Jazz Orchestra creates new concert programs tailored specifically to the ensemble, featuring guest soloists who bring their unique voices to the performances. These guests have included both international and Finnish artists such as Anders Jormin, Aili Ikonen, Marius Neset, Maria Faust, Mathias Eick and Juhani Aaltonen. In 2024, the ensemble will release a new studio album featuring original compositions tailored for Sointi Jazz Orchestra.
