Dark Forest is a concept band, founded by Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson in 2013 to acquire complete artistic freedom to lead his own group and compose all the music. The band’s music is jazz with influences from progressive rock and various types of folk music. 

In October 2015 the band released their debut album Kisima on Sigurdur’s own label. Dark Forest invites the listeners to a journey of atmospheric and progressive jazz with playful rhythms and catchy melodies.In October 2018 the second album Horizon came out on Eclipse Music. This time the album is based on Sigurdur’s own life experience. The album is more expressive and emotional than the first one. The band is not afraid to show its softer side and has broadened its musical expression, although there is still plenty of that signature energetic jazzrock.
