Reactor-5 is a shining star in the European jazz sky. The group consists the creme de la creme of the Finnish jazz scene and is co-led by keyboardists Aki Rissanen and Jussi Fredriksson. The music, mostly written by Aki Rissanen hoovers in the 1970’s fusion jazz with a twist of contemporary electronica. While many other goups, who combine the classic East-Coast- Blue Note- sound of the '60s with dance-club aspects, Reactor-5 does the same with American West-Coast influences. More smooth, more laid-back. Like the life in California.

The debut album, entitled ”Leisure Music” was released on the label Suomen Musiikki in 2008 with appraising reviews. The group is performing actively in their native Finland and gaining more and more international attention.

"Reactor-5 doesn't try to hide their influences but still achieves to create fascinating and unique music. The music relies on heavily grooving rhythm background with the mixture of keyboards and trumpet interacting." - Pohjolan Sanomat, the leading newspaper in the Northern Finland, May 4th 2009.
