Pekka Toivanen Welfare Band was born in connection to Viimsi Happy Jazz in the autumn of 2020.

The band's repertoire is built on Duke Pearson's compositions, but also includes original compositions and the best pieces of the Hard-Bop tradition from other composers.

The band's musicians have nurtured the traditions of jazz and operated within it with their own bands. Each musician has created a long career in the field of traditional jazz.
