Finland's most understandable jazz band, Jahnukaiset, was founded in 1995 for a single gig. The band's clarinetist and cartoonist Jukka Tilsa was preparing an original exhibition at the Kalleria Kukunor in Tampere, and realized that the opening of the art exhibition needs naturally a jazz band. Gig by gig one thing has led to another, and now (on summer 2026) Jahnukaiset has released five albums and performed hundreds of gigs in clubs, jazz festivals, birthday parties and the annual gala of the Finnish Salmiakki Association.
