Finland's most understandable jazz band Jahnukaiset has completed a new album called Sivistys after a decade break.

Sivistys differs from Jahnukaiset's previous production at first glance: Antti Seppänen has changed his instrument from marimba/vibraphone to trombone, and the combination of two wind instruments – the other is Jukka Tilsa's clarinet – brings completely new tones to the mix. Stylistically, Jahnut also expands its prejudice towards new directions such as funk (also released as a single as Batman ja Robin puistotäteinä, Batman ja Robin As Playground Nannies) and latin-american rhythms (second single Huomautus veneilijöille, Caveat For Boaters).

For the first time, the band's album also includes cover songs. Instrumental jazz of Jahnukaiset has sometimes been described as "soundtracks to TV series that haven't been made", so it was high time to take on John Barry's theme music from the series The Persuaders! (1970-1971). On the album song is called Snobbar Som Jobbar, which is the Swedish name for the TV series. The album ends with the song Maanantaiaamu (Monday morning), which is naturally originally Sunday Morning, the opening track of the Velvet Underground's debut album.

The only song on the album composed by the entire band, Missä mansikat ovat tuoreita (Where The Strawberries Are Fresh), is dedicated to band's long-time drummer Juppo Paavola, who passed away from a rapidly progressing illness in 2024.
