Halme Prospekt was formed as a group of musicians around Hepa Halme's solo records around 2008. The origins of the group go back to the Living Room Ambient sessions performed at the Soup and Mother restaurants in Helsinki in 1999. Halme Prospekt became a regularly performing group and assumed its current line-up soon after the release of Hepa Halme's second album as leader, Prospektor, in 2008, which already had most of the members of Halme Prospekt among the featured musicians.
Halme Prospekt has performed, for example, at the Tampere Jazz Happening and the Rytmihäiriöklubi in Helsinki but received its most extensive run of performances in 2009/10 with the monthly Prospektor Club at Helsinki's Club Liberté.
During their journey Halme Prospekt has emerged from platform to perform Hepa Halme’s compositions to self-piloting collective. The band has operated with minor line-up changes and has thus honed to a seamless ensemble. As a result, the through-composed material they previously played is in a smaller role than before, and the roles based on the individual characteristics of each musician are emphasized. Operating on the line between free improvisation and composed material has proven to be a fruitful approach. A significant difference from previous production is the larger role of analog synthesizers. The expression of the band is a combination of electronic and acoustic soundscapes.
After Prospektor Halme Prospekt has released four albums: Prospektrum (2013), Pajazzo (2015), Bluespektor (2018) and Prospektagon (2023). Each album has always been different from its predecessor and represented a new stage in the development of the band.
