Anna-Mari Kähärä Orchestra is famous for its unpredictable and phenomenal performances, which have already gained cult reputation. It is a true all-stars-dream-team band formed by four musicians, top in their own fields. The core of their mutual synergy is foolhardy and unprejudiced improvisation.

The band’s repertoire consists of Kähärä’s compositions to English poetry. Their music is an adventurous and passionate mixture of jazz, folk and pop. The debut album ’Anna-Mari Kähärän Orkesteri’ (Blue Note/Emi) was released in 2005. Band’s awaited second album is to be released in 2013.

Anna-Mari Kähärä has created a vast career as a singer, composer, musician and arranger. She has composed hundreds of poems, performed by numerous vocal ensembles, choirs, symphony orchestras and soloists. Apart from her solo career, Kähärä is known for her work with the vocal group How Many Sisters, the ethno-jazz collective ZetaBoo and Pekka Kuusisto & Luomu Players. In 2002 The Finnish Jazz Federation granted its annual Georgie Award to Kähärä. She was the first woman ever to receive the prize. In the same year, she received the Finland Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture as recognition of an outstanding artistic career.

Multi-instrumentalist Zarkus Poussa is best known as a percussionist. In addition to his own Zarkus Orchestra he has performed with Ismo Alanko, Tuomo, Tuomari Nurmio, Pekka Kuusisto and Michael Monroe, to name a few. He has also worked in many TV and theatre productions.

Marzi Nyman is one of the most recognized guitarists in Finland. He has worked widely as a guitarist, singer, arranger and composer regardless of art form or music genre. Nyman has performed with numerous different bands and ensembles (i.e. Nylon Beat, Leningrad Cowboys, Husband, Hemma Beast, UMO Jazz Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Iiro Rantala New Trio). His debut album ”Marzi” won the Teosto Prize awarded by the Finnish Composers’ Copyright Society Teosto in 2006.

Jarmo Saari is known for his visual composing style, and multi-layered collages created with guitar, human voice and different odd instruments. In addition to his solo project and bands, he has collaborated with percussion master Trilok Gurtu, sax giant Michael Brecker, prog legend Pekka Pohjola, chartbusting rock band Don Huonot, trombone guru Nils Landgren and film director Mika Kaurismäki, to name a few. His career consists of more than 200 recordings and performances in 30 countries.
