Kadi Vija's new band Kadi Vija 3 released its debut album Freedom in January 2025. The band's lineup and Vija's compositions are reminiscent of the traditional jazz saxophone trio format, but this time the human voice interprets melodies usually played by the reeds. This is also Vija's sixth album of original music.

Jazz vocalist Kadi Vija was looking for a new artistic path when she felt she had lost touch with her own musical preferences. It was found by taking time away, finding new collaborators and improvising, and the result is an album called Freedom. The trio's music is full of joy, freedom and space to experiment. Vija's singing is influenced by instrumental jazz music, flowing ideas and a sense of the abstract. She describes the creation of the album as follows:

–  I noticed that I started to have material that referred to the traditional 50s-60s jazz sax trio music. Five songs a week - I had a crazy creative pace. I wanted to take a moment to see where it would lead. I pondered who I considered to be the best and most creative guys to join me, with whom it was safe to experiment and fail. They were drummer Ville Luukkonen and double bassist Mikael Saastamoinen.

The album was recorded in the fall of 2024 at e-studio, and Joonas Saikkonen was responsible for recording and mixing. The first single Movin’ was released at the end of November 2024. The album was partially financed by a crowdfunding campaign.
