WebAitio, who specialise in online broadcasting, will visit the dress rehearsals of Turku Jazz Orchestra’s upcoming concert at Turku Conservatory on Tuesday 15 December, streaming a 15-20 -minute clip live from the spot at 8:00PM. On the Aamuset website, the audience can have a sneak peek at the concert in which TJO performs works by Duke Ellington and Finnish Toivo Kärki conducted by Vellu Halkosalmi.

The concert will be premiered on Friday 18 December at Turku’s Logomo as a part of the Flame Jazz concert series. “Ellington in Finnish” brings us Duke’s compositions from the 1930s and 40s translated into Finnish by lyricist and composer Mikko Koivusalo. Singer Juki Välipakka will feature Turku Jazz Orchestra on the vocals. Ellington has never been performed in Finnish on such a scale before.

In addition to Ellington, the programme will include best-loved pieces and rare pearls from famous Finnish composer Toivo Kärki’s repertory, performed trio Panu Savolainen Toivo. New jazz arrangements have been penned by the eponymous vibraphonist and as their frontwoman in the concert they have recruited the dazzling multitalented vocalist Yona.
