One of the rising stars of European jazz, David Helbock, brings his trio to Turku’s Café Tiljan on 11 September. Helbock, whose most recent recording, Aural Colors, has received plenty of acclaim in international media, is one of this autumn’s international guests of the Flame Jazz concert series.
Pianist David Helbock is known as a resourceful jazz musician, active in the international scene. He has released music on the legendary label ECM and been successful in the world’s biggest jazz piano contest at Montreux Jazz Festival. In his home country, he has been awarded with the Outstanding Artist Award in 2011.
We will be in for material from the new album and a fresh breeze from the Central European jazz scene. Unusual for a piano trio, the bassist Raphael Preuschl plays the bass ukulele.
Flame Jazz and Åbo Svenska Teater co-organise five concerts this autumn, that of David Helbock’s being one of them.
