Is UJK the best kept secret in Helsinki? UJK or Uusi Jazzi Klubi has been doing its magic since 2017. This collective has organized a Friday night club for e.g. in Merihaka, Sturenkatu and Nilsiänkatu in Vallila. The creative frenzy of the collective has also made its presence known at various events and festivals.

UJK already has performed fifty gigs behind it. In addition to its club with an extensive network of partners, UJK has released music for Jazzaggression Records. With its debut album Nilsiänkadun Rauhansopimus (2021), UJK draws influences from e.g. ethno, free jazz and avant-garde. The band’s debut doesn’t care about conventions but is energetic underground jazz at its best. "This is deep Helsinki."
