The Dirty Rats Quintet is a fresh jazz fusion group, formed by five Kuopio-based students of music. Started in 2015 and broadly categorised as a jazz fusion band, the group draws their influences all the way from progressive rock, hip hop and even metal music.

The quintet recorded their debut, Opening, in Tampere in August 2015 abd brought it out in the following October. The album-launch show took place at Kuopio's Jazzklubi, drawing the biggest crowd that the venue has seen to date.
