Founded in 2015, Taiga consist of Nordic jazz musicians that first met each other in New York. The band's original aim was to perform Nordic jazz in the U.S.

Despite its typical jazz instrumentations Taiga's sound is new - the band plays extensively with the instrument combinations that the quartet has mastered. The band's soundscape is etheric and melodic, and also occasionally swinging and groovy. Taiga's music is fully composed with hints of minimalistic improvisation. Taiga has been described in its simplistic approach as a very fascinating combination thanks to its interesting musicians.
