The duo Stanley J. Zappa & Simo Laihonen was born in Spring 2017 when Stanley J. Zappa and Simo Laihonen met in Helsinki. The duo performed its first tour together in Finland during 2018 recorded Zappa's upcoming album Muster Point. The album will be released in August 2020 by We Jazz Records in LP, CD and digital form.

The band's music combines the world's various musical traditions with free improvisation. Both musicians have a strong jazz background that comes clearly through in the music. The band uses a varied palette of instruments and through different combinations comes up with a diverse, perpetually adapting and interesting ensemble.
