Selma Juudit Alessandra (f.k.a Selma Savolainen Quartet) is a group formed in 2015 and led by the Helsinki-based singer and composer Selma Savolainen, whose members Artturi Rönkä, Jesse Ojajärvi and Joonas Tuuri are best known from the eccentric end of the Finnish jazz scene.

Selma Juudit Alessandra's music drifts somewhere between indie jazz, avant-pop and 70's psychedelia. Analogue synths and hazy vocals are interrupted either by band's naughty interplay or singer-songwriter like storytelling often tinted with ambiguities - might make you think of the likes of Kate Bush, Julia Holter or even Weather Report.

The ensemble released its debut album Rubicon Songs in November 2019 and the album has gathered international renown. The conceptual album's overall theme is Savolainen's experiences of losing her father, pianist Jarmo Savolainen and becoming an adult in the midst of grief.
