Sampo Lassila Narinkka was founded in 2012. The band's music is original, Finnish world jazz, with a strong foundation in Eastern European Jewish klezmer music.
The band's repertoire is mainly their own, "Finnish" klezmer composed by Sampo Lassila and the "standards" of the traditional klezmer. The band was joined in 2020 by percussionist Janne Tuomi, who takes the band's sound to an even more rhythmic and jazzy direction.
The band is working on a new album, which focuses on the new East-Helsinki Suite: a series of compositions with a theme of Eastern, robust Helsinki, its landscapes and human destinies.
