New Borders is a novel constellation to manifest on the canvas of the Scandinavian improvisation community.
The Gothenburg-native Adrian Åsling Sellius (SE) and Copenhagen-based Ben Rodney (GB) and Antti Lähdesmäki (FI) all playing aerophonic instruments – saxophone, trumpet and organ respectively – their music is strongly based on the physicality of air and breath. Three individuals moving air through pipes, three different flows of air interacting and creating new flows laminar and turbulent, the trio becomes one dynamic organism where intricate individual changes cause unpredictable effects on the collective soundscape.
The band's debut release EP-01 is a documentation of their countless expeditions into the shared air space, diving deep into the vortices to find unexpected currents of repetition and stability.
