MÖLy Trio was founded in 2015 by Turku based saxophonist Jaakko Martikainen. In addition to Martikainen the band consists of Johan Ölander (drums) and Pasi Lyysaari (bass).

At times serene and moody and at others tight and hard swinging, the combo's music has been described as "archipelago jazz", a nod to the Norwegian "fjord jazz" sound. The trio has released two albums Floating in Nauvo and Other Stories (2017) and Trails, Trials & Trolls (2019), and will record its third release in 2020–2021.
