Saxophonist Mikko Innanen's Autonomus is equal parts a four-piece band, a series of compositions and a musical philosophy.

The quartet, made up of top Nordic players, explores and interprets Innanen's compositions in a self-directed way as their name suggests at every performance. Innanen composed 40 pieces in the ensemble's repertoire in the winter of 2018–19. The compositions are diary-like, and their guiding thesis was to accept musical ideas as they come and try to write them down without thinking too much or evaluating them.
