Manuel Dunkel Quartet plays saxophonist Manuel Dunkel’s melodic and intensive jazz compositions. The quartet is formed by a set of experienced musicians in whose hands the tradition of jazz is moulded into subtle and stylistically fine-grained shapes.

Dunkel has conducted his quartet since the mid-1990s, and the band has been active in its current line-up since early 2021. Dunkel's compositions are characterized by strong melodies, influences from jazz traditions and even modern tones. At the heart of the band is Dunkel’s powerful and nuanced saxophone sound, which naturally bends from an intense postbop style to the most sensitive ballad moods.

The quartet’s newest album Northern Journey (Eclipse Music) was released in 2021.
