Kalmisto Trio is formed in 2016 by double bassist Teppo Hauta-aho, guitarist Kalle Kalima and guitarist Jukka Kääriäinen. The idea of the band is to unite two Hauta-aho’s guitar – double bass duos to one. Their music is acoustic and improvised. Kalmisto Trio is continuation to Finnish field of free improvisation, which pioneers include Teppo Hauta-aho. Their musical influences are found from the canon of jazz and improvised music, from artists such as Cecil Taylor, Derek Bailey ja Ornette Coleman.

Karkia Mistika label released trio’s well reviewed album Meeting in 2017.
