Fig Fable is in essence a piano trio fronted by the three-octave crossover soprano Lubena Nova, who masterfully blends the classical sound with lighter shades in her singing. The band's sound is a distinctive fusion of jazz and progressive rock.

The band's lyrics are based on Lubena's poetry, with compositions initially by the original pianist, Hannu Hiltula. In 2012, this lineup released the EP Please! Do Not Pick The Fig!. After a hiatus, Fig Fable was reborn in late 2019, with the new bassist Jari Riitala taking over musical direction and composition.

Despite some lineup changes, the band now has enough new material for a full-length album, awaiting recording and release. The first taste of this new direction, the single Sailing Away, was released in 2021. The current lineup will debut on the upcoming single Lucid Dreaming, set for release in fall 2024.
