Fig Fable is in essence a piano trio fronted by the three-octave crossover soprano Lubena Nova, who masterfully blends the classical sound with lighter shades in her singing. The band's sound is a distinctive fusion of jazz and progressive rock.

The band's lyrics are based on Lubena's poetry, with compositions initially by the original pianist, Hannu Hiltula. In 2012, this lineup released the EP Please! Do Not Pick The Fig!. After a hiatus, Fig Fable was reborn in late 2019, with the new bassist Jari Riitala taking over musical direction and composition.

With a wealth of new material, the band is gearing up for a full-length album, eagerly awaiting recording and release. Despite changes in the lineup, Fig Fable has already shared the first fruits of their rebirth with singles Sailing Away (2021) and Lucid Dreaming (2025). The current lineup is dedicated to recording the full album, promising more captivating music to come.
