The Jyväskylä-based all-star jazz ensemble Around 4 was formed at a time when the cultural and music scene was slowly recovering after two years of lockdowns. The original idea was to bring together jazz musicians living in the same city to reconnect with their instruments. The repertoire naturally emerged from the compositions of each musician, resulting in a new quartet focused on independent, improvisational music. The members span a wide age range, blending extensive professional experience with youthful energy, creating a bold sound that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
