Kari "Sonny" Heinilä (b. 1966) has became a familiar face to the audience through both his own bands and several big bands. Besides his long-lasting career as a player and an artistic director of UMO Jazz Orchestra, Kari Heinilä has walked his own routes as a saxophonist and a flutist. He hasn't stayed put with jazz music, but has become more and more interested in both modern classical music and ethnic folk music.
