Resettled in Helsinki after 16 years honing his craft in Boston, New York and Amsterdam, Jussi Reijonen is an internationally acclaimed guitarist, oud player and composer who has collaborated with artists such as Jack DeJohnette, Robin Eubanks, Simon Shaheen, and David Fiuczynski.

Reijonen's debut album un (2013) received a nomination for the Independent Music Awards. His second album, Three Seconds | Kolme Toista (2022), introduced his multinational nonet and garnered outstanding reviews both in Finland and internationally. His Three Seconds nonet represented Finland at the Jazzahead! 2023 showcase in Bremen.

Reijonen's latest project, sayr, offers an intimate and meditative counterbalance to the ambitious scope of Three Seconds | Kolme Toista. Performed on vintage steel-string acoustic guitar and Arabic 'ud, sayr is an improvised exploration of the small, the simple and the sparse; the rugged earthy; the gnarly unpretty; and most of all, of memories of roots and branches; of bare feet in soil; and of paths less – or differently – predetermined.

In 2025, Reijonen released two improvised solo albums, sayr: salt | thirst and sayr: kaiho – live in helsinki, both of which have been international critical successes.
